The Narrative Space ‘IntelliSafe’

An interactive installation at the Volvo XC60 & S90 Reskin Car Launch.
We aim to move beyond abstract data and create an narrative environment where visitors can physically navigate and understand the car’s reactive intelligence.

The sensing system differentiated between humans, vehicles, pets, and stationary objects. When visitors moved through the space, it analyzed movement patterns, distinguishing between a person standing still and a person in motion.

For over 60 years, Volvo hasn’t just built safe cars, it has empowered people to embrace new journeys with the confidence to live life to the fullest. As the brand navigates a pivotal shift toward an electric and autonomous future, this event marks a transition from physical protection to a holistic philosophy of "human-centric" technology where safety is no longer a silent feature, but an active, intelligent dialogue. This event was materialized through a large-scale heritage event that unified six decades of engineering with the digital horizon. As a core tactic within this campaign, the launch of the Volvo XC60 and S90 models served as the primary vehicle for this message.
To synthesize decades of legacy and emerging innovation, Volvo aimed to translate the "IntelliSafe" spirit from a series of technical specifications into a narrative environment. The challenge lay in making the invisible visible: specifically, demonstrating the utility of LiDAR pulses and sensor logic that the human eye cannot typically perceive. By collaborating on this installation, Fustic.'s goal is to move beyond abstract data and create an "Intelligent Safe Space" where visitors could physically navigate and understand the car’s reactive intelligence.
The installation design utilized soft, organic curves and wave-like elements to mirror the "Drive.Life" concept, representing the undulating nature of a human life journey. Central to the experience was a U-shaped, three-sided experience wall that functioned as a real-time LiDAR scan area. As visitors entered this space, the system detected people and objects within a simulated range, allowing for a direct interaction with the same sensor logic used in Volvo vehicles.
On a technical side, the sensing system differentiated between humans, vehicles, pets, and stationary objects. The software analyzed movement patterns, distinguishing between a person standing still and a person in motion. As visitors moved through the space, the system visualized their velocity through shifting particle colors and immediate command prompts based on distance data. This real-time feedback loop turned complex collision-avoidance logic into a spatial narrative, allowing the audience to feel the protective perimeter that the technology creates.
By the end of the month-long exhibition at the Tasco Experience Center, the project had turned Scandinavian design heritage into a hands-on encounter with future-forward safety. This installation helped visitors truly see how Volvo’s technology works, pulling back the curtain on complex safety systems through vibrant, visual storytelling. By turning invisible code into light and particle motion, the space made advanced engineering feel simple, intuitive, and personal for every customer.
